On 28 January 2019, on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, and Austrian Ambassador in Skopje, Renate Kobler, hosted a commemorative ceremony in Skopje Philharmonic Hall. The Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Linas Linkevičius, and other distinguished guests addressed the audience and paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. Austrian Special Envoy, Ambassador Thomas Michael Baier, gave an account of the IHRA’s and the EU’s reaction to antisemitism and the Italian Ambassador in Skopje, Carlo Romeo, reported on the highlights of the Italian IHRA Chairmanship in 2018. The ceremony ended with a concert by the Duo Timna Brauer & Elias Meiri from Vienna performing their “Songs from Jerusalem”.
On the morning of the same day, the "Holocaust Memorial Center for the Jews of Macedonia" organized a round table on “Combating Antisemitism and Holocaust Distortion” with the participation of Ambassador Jovan Tegovski, National Coordinator for the IHRA, and Ambassador Baier.
