The mission of this project was to study about forgotten war graves and killing sites and to foster local communities in remembering the past. In the course of two years, a research and project team visited around 25 towns and villages where almost 50 mass and single graves of Holocaust victims are located. Through contact with Holocaust survivors, archives and with technical assistance, as vast amounts of information about the local historical sites were collected and later introduced to the local community through public events.
Additionally, the collected data serves to supplement and improve the database "Human Losses and Victims of the Nazi persecution under the German Occupation". The purpose of this database is to gather all available information about all Polish citizens who suffered from Nazi persecution.
