Lecture with the historian Dr Horst Schreiber (University of Innsbruck).
In 2005, the United Nations established 27 January, the day of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
This year, the focus is on "School in the Gau Tyrol-Vorarlberg". Up to 80 per cent of the teaching staff in Vorarlberg joined or aspired to join the NSDAP during the Nazi era. The historian and university lecturer Horst Schreiber (University of Innsbruck) explores the causes of this high willingness to conform in his lecture. In addition, Schreiber will talk about the effects of the Nazi era on children and young people and provide insights into denazification in schools after 1945.
