National Teacher Conference in commemoration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Teaching and Learning about the Holocaust and the Prevention of Crimes Against Humanity (25–27 January 2022), the 19th National Conference for Croatian primary and secondary teachers.

Teaching and Learning about the Holocaust and the Prevention of Crimes Against Humanity will take place online on 25–27 January, in commemoration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The conference is organized by the Croatian Education and Teacher Training Agency (ETTA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Education, Yad Vashem, and Mémorial de la Shoah. The conference participants are Croatian primary and secondary school teachers of History, Ethics, Religious Education, Philosophy, Sociology, Croatian and Foreign Languages. The lecturers and workshop facilitators are national and international experts on Holocaust education and practitioners. The conference is designed in such a way that the lectures give a broader historical context of the Holocaust and recommended approaches to teaching about this very sensitive issue, while the workshops offer the teachers an opportunity for experiential learning via flipped classroom, especially in moderating discussions and guiding the students in learning about the Holocaust, highlighting the theme-appropriate and age-appropriate learning methods and materials. The conference also gives the teachers the opportunity to present their school projects on the commemoration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the teaching materials that they have developed during the year to a wider audience. During the last 19 years of running this national teacher conference and ETTA’s extensive cooperation with relevant international organizations, Croatian teachers have had plenty of opportunities for professional development. A number of them will present their good practice examples and successful school projects related to commemorating the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
