Use of this website is provided by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance subject to the following Terms and Conditions:

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance reserves the rights to change these Terms and Conditions at any time by posting changes online. Privacy

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance is committed to safeguarding your privacy. This policy explains how the IHRA makes use of and protects the information you give when using this website. If you are asked to provide information whilst using the website, it will only be used in the ways described in this policy.

How we collect information

We only collect personal information when you give it to us. For example, when you sign up to our newsletter or when we ask you to identify what type of visitor you are the first time you visit our site. We may also collect information about your usage of the website using cookies (see below). This is generally anonymous. If you choose to tell us what type of visitor you are, your usage of the website will be captured alongside your visitor category. We will never give your data to a third party.

What information we collect

We may collect the following information when you sign up to our newsletter on the site:

  • Name and job title/ organization.
  • Contact information, including email address
  • Type of visitor

Our newsletter is powered by MailChimp, which collects your data for us via the sign up form and adds you to our distribution list. We use this list to send out a monthly round-up newsletter as well as press releases and other announcements about IHRA . Mailchimp may transfer your personal data to certain MailChimp’s sub-processors (who, described in Mail Chimp’s Data Processing Agreement) perform some critical services, such
as helping MailChimp prevent abuse and providing support to customers.

If you are visiting the site anonymously, we cannot access any personal information about you. However, we may still use cookies to collect information on:

  • which pages you visit;
  • the amount of time you spend on the site or a particular page;
  • whether or not you have visited the site before;
  • how you came to our website – for example, through an email link or a search engine;
  • the type of computer, browser, network location and internet connection you use.

How we use this information

  • For our own internal records.
  • To monitor website usage.
  • To send registered users emails about our resources, programmes and events.

We are committed to ensuring that your data is held securely. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures. We store your data on our secure servers based in Germany and we will never transfer your data outside the EU.

Cookies and how we use them

A cookie is a small file placed on your computer’s hard drive which enables our website to identify your computer as you view different pages.

We only use cookies for the following purposes:

  • To monitor how visitors are using the website. We use Google Analytics to learn information about our users, such as which country they live in and which pages are most read and how long they are read for. This enables us to improve our website. It does not allow us to obtain personal information about visitors.
  • To remember search terms users have entered to make searching the website easier for them.
